Acabo de terminar el TIME de esta semana. Muy emotivos los artículos (y las fotos) de Steve Jobs. De este número de TIME me quedo con un artículo de Fareed Zakaria defendiendo el criticismo de Obama con la falta de competitividad de EEUU estos últimos años  (Lo han acusado de ser poco patriota por decir esto: “we didn’t have the same competitive edge that we needed over the last couple of decades”. Mr. Zakaria, y yo, si ustedes me permiten el atrevimiento, lo defendemos). Poco puede avanzar uno si no pone sobre la mesa sus carencias.

Y para digerir tanta política en un día tan político, comenzaré la relectura de Design for Community, nunca terminé de leerlo (y sin embargo no he parado de recomendarlo). Vuelvo a hacerlo, lo recomiendo sin haberlo comenzado.

He sido diplomático durante 15 años. He asistido a decenas de reuniones del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU, me he sentado con jefes de Estado de todo el mundo, he visto cómo los Gobiernos se dejan corromper por los bancos y las empresas y al final, me convertí en un cínico. Pero durante las últimas dos semanas he recuperado mi pasión por la política, que alimento desde niño. Una de las conversaciones más interesantes que he vivido en los últimos años la tuve sentado en la plaza de la Libertad.

Yo no soy diplomático pero sentí algo muy parecido hace unos meses en la plaza catalunya. Recuperé de golpe la consciencia perdida, volví a sentir la ilusión por el futuro, por el progreso.

Loable, aunque curiosa forma, de entender la democracia… primero, se llega al momento “democrático” tras el fuego, (nada nuevo, tampoco vamos a engañarnos),  y ahora que hay “democracia” avisan hoy de que hay que votar hoy y se lavan las manos. Y sí, quizás todo esto es una estupidez, pero es una estupidez más grande que algunos países.

Hace años que vengo observando a Barack Obama. Ha sido una gran alegría su elección, me ha llenado de esperanza.
